LWIR lenses are specialized thermal‑optical assemblies. They gather thermal radiation from ambient‑temperature objects and focus it onto uncooled VOx microbolometer FPA detectors. Conventional optical glass completely blocks 8‑14 μm infrared light, so only IR‑transparent crystals and chalcogenide glass can be adopted.
